Morning Meeting:
Duluth Denfeld High School Junior Rotarians Present -
Tim Doyle and Joe Vukelich - Public Schools Stadium
Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club (831 E Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802) as the Duluth Denfeld High School Junior Rotarians take over our meeting and present - Tim Doyle and Joe Vukelich!
Tim Doyle (Denfeld alumni and member of the Re-Naming Committee) and Joe Vukelich (retired Denfeld social studies teacher and unofficial historian) will discuss the renaming of Public Schools Stadium located at Denfeld High School.
Boosters from Denfeld High School are working to rename the West Duluth stadium for two influential men from Denfeld's sports history.
The first man, Walt Hunting, built Denfeld’s football program into a midcentury powerhouse and the second man, Marv Heikkinen, revived that legacy a decade later. The stadium would be named after Hunting and the field would be named after Heikkinen.
Walk Hunting coached Denfeld’s football team from 1927 - 1955. Hunting coached the school’s football team to a 162-63-15 record, 14 city championships, 6 undefeated seasons, 4 unofficial state titles, and 1 official title.
Marv Heikkinen racked up an 81-40 record coaching Denfeld’s football team in the 1970s - early 1980s and still cheers along in the stands today at Hunter football games. Heikkinen had a reputation for being an excellent motivator with a knack for getting his players ready for big games.
Harbortown Junior Rotarian Wins Ann Bancroft Foundation Grant Award

Rotary Magazine - May Issue

More than 55 million people around the world today have Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. "It's horrible. It's the longest goodbye you'll ever have in your life," says Norm Rogers, who lost his wife, Nancy, to the disease and is working to try to spare others from that pain. For this month's cover story, Rotary magazine looks at the CART Fund, which supports Alzheimer's research, and the Rotarians behind it.

Click here to read the May 2023 issue. The link will take you to your digital copy, which you can read using any common web browser.

May is Youth Service Month for Rotary, and to mark the occasion we look back on 60 years of Interact. We'll take you inside some of the most remarkable Interact projects, and you'll hear directly from Interactors about how your club can benefit from collaborating with the next generation of Rotarians.

And finally, we can't wait to see you in Melbourne later this month for the 2023 Rotary International Convention. In this issue's "Where are they now?" feature, we introduce you to convention speaker Gregory Rockson, a Rotary Alumni Global Service Award winner who is changing health care in Africa. It's not too late to register.
