Morning Meeting on 4/15/26
Dori Rapaport, Justice North

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club (831 E Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802) as we hear from Dori Rapaport, Co-Executive Director, Justice North

Since she became Executive Director in 2017, Dori Rapaport
has led Justice North, formerly known as Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota, through a myriad of innovations
and expansions to increase the organization’s capacity to
help more individuals.  Dori speaks on statewide and
national panels regularly on topics such as rural access to
justice, technological innovations to increase access to legal services, and collaborations with legal aid and the courts.
In Dori’s spare time she and her partner spend time driving
their five teenagers all over Duluth (no licensed drivers yet!),
and love to walk their golden retriever while birdwatching in Observation Hill.

Justice North is a nonprofit organization that provides free
civil legal services to low-income individuals in areas of law
that impact their safety, security, and stability. In our justice
system, people only have a right to a lawyer in criminal
matters, not civil ones. The work done at Justice North
ensures all individuals have equal access to justice, not just
those who have the means to pay for justice. Justice North
keeps families housed, domestic violence victims protected, vulnerable seniors safe, and more.

UPDATE on the Anchallani Clinic
Hola amigos,

Congratulations! the Anchallani medical clinic is completed! I want to forward the last construction report from Dr. Jose and thank him and Mano a Mano Bolivia for their great accomplishment and thank you and your Rotarians for your generous support.  The dedication ceremony is scheduled there in two weeks, so if you have an opportunity to attend, you would be a welcomed guest; roundtrip airfare is ~$600 roundtrip from Miami.  I've attached the Anchallani dedication ceremony brochure.

I've helped support funding for ten medical clinics and two water well projects in Bolivia that have provided for over a million dollars in construction projects to these needy communities and I'm ready to retire.  It's amazing what each of our $15 annual donations to the District 5580 can accomplish! I want to thank all of you for your support.

Moving forward, Dr. Marg Woods, Thunder Bay Port Aurther Rotary is picking up our support for next Bolivia medical clinic in Diez y sies (16th) de Julio community near Sants Cruz, working with Mano a Mano Bolivia.  She needs your help and support.  If you would like us to provide a presentation to your club to provide an update on our Mano a Mano Bolivia projects please let me, Dr. Marg or Dr. Jose know so that we can provide a presentation.

Thanks again for your generous support to help these needy communities!

Muchas gracias!
Sincerely YIR

Karlos

Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup and Unite for Water:  Twin Ports Rotary Clubs Joint Project:
Saturday, April 25, 10am - 12pm

This week we are celebrating Earth Day.  I remember the first one in 1970, when I was attending East High School.  Remember how Canal Park used to be a junkyard with dive bars?  I think that's my old Chevrolet in the photo.  We are participating in the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup with hundreds of other Rotary Clubs around the five Great Lakes.  Join in on the fun event next Saturday, April 25th, 2026, 10 AM at Park Point, with parking near Sky Harbor.   Karl Everett

You are Invited....
My name is Anja Erickson and I'm a student at Duluth East High School.  Our Student Government is putting on a spring festival benefiting local nonprofits, such as the Damiano Center and the Depot Foundation. There will be live music, food, dancing, family friendly activities, and a silent auction with $2,000+ of items donated by businesses in the area. When speaking to several students here, I was informed that this event might be something Harbortown Rotarians and their families may be interested in attending, and spreading the word about.  We'd love to see you there!
